How it works
A meeting with a real solicitor. No trip to town.
Five plain steps between "been meaning to for years" and "done properly" — including a proper sit-down with your solicitor, by video or phone.
The five steps
Step 1
Book a time online
Pick a slot that suits you on our booking page. You get a confirmation and reminders automatically — video link included, or we can phone you instead.
Step 2
Answer straightforward questions
Before the meeting, tell us the basics: who the will is for, your family, your property. Plain words, no jargon, help if you get stuck.
Step 3
Meet your solicitor
A 30-minute video or phone appointment with a qualified solicitor, from wherever you are. This is where we make sure the will actually fits your situation — the part no DIY kit can do.
Step 4
Pay the fixed fee, then we draft
After the meeting you pay the fixed fee — $500 single, $750 couples — and your solicitor drafts and checks your will. If your estate needs more than the package, we tell you at the meeting, before you pay a cent.
Step 5
Sign and witness it properly
We walk you through exactly how to sign and witness your will so it is valid — the step where DIY kits most often go wrong quietly.
Why not just grab a DIY kit?
A DIY will kit is better than nothing — but that's a low bar for the document that decides what happens to everything you own. Kits and free templates tend to get it wrong quietly: unclear wording, witnessing mistakes, assets that never make it into the will. Nobody notices until it matters.
With Rural Wills you sit down with a qualified solicitor — just over a video call or the phone instead of a desk — and the same solicitor drafts and checks every will. None of the guesswork. Read the full comparison.
When the fixed fee isn't the right fit
Some estates need more than a fixed-fee will — family trusts, companies, blended-family arrangements, farm succession structuring. If that's you, your solicitor says so at the meeting, before any fee is paid, and points you to a full engagement instead. Not sure which side you're on? Ask us first — it costs nothing to check.
